Brace yourself, Agnes!

OK... In a few minutes, I'll be shutting down this box. When it comes back up, it will be booting from the CD drive, in which will be nestled the install cd for Redhat 9, Shrike. All technical reasoning aside, I think i'm upgrading now because of the name, and not because I happen to be in the middle of studying for finals. (Hey, at least I waited until I finished that damned report! The shrike has special significance for me, and I'm not going to tell you why. If all goes well, there will be another post following this one in which I express my amazment at how nicely the install went. If all does not go well, there will be an entirely different sort of post following this one, where I recount the terrors and the horrors of the installation, which led, ultimately, to my restoring C drive from a ghost.

I thought a shrike was a bird, aka butcher bird, that impaled other birds and mice on thorns. I think they also have teeth at the tip of their hooked bill. I only remember this because a have a fascination with things being impaled, don't judge. Now god only knows why it has a special meaning to you.
Do not fret. I am not fishing for a answer, not that you would give me one. :)
